A book by Kevin Herne

Kevin Hearn was born and raised in Arizona. From an early age he was fond of comics, and at the age of seven another love appeared in his life - "Star Wars". At school, with the help of Mountain Dew soda and the band Van Halen, he discovered the formula: soda + guitar rock + comic book collection = hardcore nerd. Kevin graduated from Northern Arizona University as an English teacher. For three years he worked as a teacher in schools in California, then returned and continued teaching in his home state. The author began to write works of a large form at the university, but the results did not even suit him. The first work, which was not ashamed to show, was a novel in the genre of epic fantasy. Having reduced the three-year experience by 200,000 words to a debutable version of 114,000 words, he began sending it out to agents, all of whom were refused. He even sent the manuscript to a publisher, which, just a couple of weeks later, replied that it had passed the "first round" and went to further study by the editors. After performing a dance of delight, Hearn waited, but the publisher`s final decision was delayed, and Kevin took on other projects. The thought of a comic strip featuring a druid who knows how to communicate mentally with animals, especially with his own dog, has long been spinning in his head. Kevin even started sketching and scripting a concept for one competition when he realized that if someone liked his idea, the characters would have to be shared, and they became too dear to him. As a result, he began to write his own novel on this material - Hounded. Eleven months later, he was ready, and there was still no answer from the publisher about the epic fantasy, so Kevin sent the new novel to twelve agents, and received the same number of rejections. He rewrote the first chapter and synopsis a couple of dozen times, and sent it out to twelve agents again, this time getting one consent from Evan Goldfried. New dance of delight. On September 9, 2009, Evan sent the novel and synopsis of the two sequels to nine publishers, and within two weeks, four of them arranged a small auction, which was won by the same publisher who had had Hearn`s epic Del Rey for a year now. Hearn`s road to publication took 19 years. Under the terms of the contract, Kevin wrote the sequels about the "iron druid": Hexed in five months and Hammered in six. Currently, he has completed the fourth novel of the Tricked cycle, is writing the fifth - Trapped, reworking his epic fantasy and supplementing his main series with works of small form. Kevin Hearn still lives in Arizona (where, by the way, his beloved character Atticus O`Sullivan also lives) with his wife Kimberly (also a school English teacher) and daughter Maddy, as well as pets - a cat and a dog. He still collects his collection of comics, miniatures on the universes of "Star Wars" and Warhammer, loves drinking beer and cooking.
