Chabon wrote his debut novel, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, when he was a student, and did so as part of scientific research. However, university professor Donald Haney, who wrote the books himself, sent his student`s manuscript to his own literary agent. The novel was sold to the publishing house for a sensational advance of 155 thousand dollars - at that time an absolute American record! The book was published in 1988 and became a bestseller, instantly elevating Chabon to the rank of literary celebrity. Chabon worked hard for five years on his second novel. However, Fountain City sickened him. And although he received a solid advance for the novel, Chabon could not dare to give it to the publishing house, because he felt that it sucked. And suddenly Chabon was struck by inspiration - in a matter of weeks he had written a draft of a new book, Wonder Boys. After six months of revision, the novel was submitted to the publishing house, published in 1995 and had an impressive success. During this time, Chabon became interested in comics. The fruit of the passion was The Amazing Adventures Kavalier & Clay, published in 2000, the story of two young Jews who created an incredibly popular comic book series in the 1940s. The novel became an American bestseller and won the 2001 Pulitzer Prize. In 2002, Chabon released his fantastic debut, the children`s fantasy novel Summerland, which won the 2003 Mythopoeic Fantasy Award. In 2004-2006, Chabon also contributed to The Amazing Adventures Escapist, a comic book anthology series published by Dark Horse. For his work in the field of comics in 2005, Chabon received the main genre award "Eisner Award". In 2006, Chabon`s pseudo-historical novel "Gentlemen of the Road" appeared, which critics dubbed "the Jewish Conan." A year later, The Yiddish Policemen`s Union came out.  Wikipedia // [ b] Wikipedia // IMDb // official site . [collapse collapsed title = Bibliography] Novels 1988 - The Mysteries of Pittsburgh - Mysteries of Pittsburgh 1995 - Wonder Boys - Prodigies 2000 - The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay - The Adventures of Kavalier & Krei 2002 - Summerland - Summerland, or Letomir 2004 - The Final Solution - The Final Solution 2006 - The Yiddish Policemen`s Union - The Union of Jewish Policemen 2007 - Gentlemen of the Road 2012 - Telegraph Avenue 2016 - Moonglow Short story collections 1990 - A Model World: And Other Stories 1999 - Werewolves In Their Youth Collections 1991 - A Model World 1999 - Werewolves In Their Youth 2010 - Tales of Mystery and Imagination Series contributed to Best American Short Stories (with Katrina Kenison ) 2005 - The Best American Short Stories 2005 Non fiction 2004 - My California: Journeys By Great Writers (with Mark Arax, Firoozeh Dumas, Edward Humes, Aimee Liu, Mary Mackey, Devorah Major, T Jefferson Parker, Thomas Steinbeck, Héctor Tobar, Donna Wares and Matt Warshaw) 2008 - Maps and Legends 2009 - Manhood for Amateurs: The Pleasures and Regrets of a Husband, Father, and Son Short stories 1997 - In the Black Mill Anthologies edited McSweeney`s Mammoth Treasury of Thrilling Tales (2003) The Amazing Adventures of the Escapist 1 (2004) The Amazing Adventures of the Escapist 2 (2004) McSweeney`s Enchanted Chamber of Astonishing Stories (2004) Anthologies containing stories by Michael Chabon The Year`s Best Fantasy and Horror Eleventh Annual Collection (1998) [/ collapse]
