David Mark Weber David Mark Weber is an American writer, satirist, science fiction writer. David Weber was born on October 24, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio (Cleveland, Ohio). While studying in college, he chose history as his specialization, also studied English literature, political science and sociology, and, as we know from another source, comparative religion. The first science fiction novels he read were the works of Edward "Doc" Smith and the novel by Jack Williamson ("Legion of Space"). But the greatest influence on the subsequent work of Weber, as he himself believes, had the novels of Henry Beam Piper, the early works of Keith Laumer and Robert Heinlein. He currently prefers reading books by Anne McCaffrey ("Everything She Writes"), David Drake, Tom Clancy, Melinda Sondgrass, Paul Anderson and Mercedes Lacey. The main literary specialization of David Weber was the so-called military fiction. “I think,” Weber says, “it`s very important to see war as disgusting and cruel, and it`s better to have a damn good reason for starting one.” The first publication in fiction is the novel Insurrection (1990), co-written with Steve White. Unlike Steve White, co-author of Weber`s trilogy ("Starfire") and some other works, David himself has no real military experience behind him, and calls the destruction of human potential one of the greatest tragedies of war. Among the writer`s favorite hobbies are military history, which he devoted almost thirty years to study, his favorite pets are cats and dogs, and David Weber lives in Greensville (Southern California). Most of David Weber`s books can be found on the Internet. They are available both in English, on the website of the publishing house (http://www.baen.com Baen), and in Russian, on the website of the electronic library [http://www.fictionbook.ru FictionBook]. I would like to note that on the publisher`s website, 25 - 33% of the entire book are usually available for free reading. Wikipedia page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Weber On the site of admirers Worlds David Weber`s all these books and some others have been collected long ago, including in the section "Translations" there is a public translation of new books and stories, and in the section "Infodumps" there are translations of Weber`s comments to his plots taken from the forums where he corresponds with his fans.
