The tales of Sister Fidelma (such as this one), set in 7th century Iréland, nave, in one respect, a curiously contemporary feel. As Publishers Weekly said in its review or the first Fidelma novel, "in Tremayne`s rendering (the period) is a golden age of total equality tor women." The series thus appeals to many besides history huffs. See The Subtle Serpent (St. Martin`s/July `98).

Peter Tremayne (Peter Tremayne, nast name - Peter Beresford Ellis , Peter Berresford Ellis) Another pseudonym - Peter MacAlan . Peter Tremayne is the pseudonym of Peter Beresford Ellis, historian and author of a number of monographs on Celtic history and culture, including such fundamental works as The Dictionary of Irish Mythology and The Dictionary of Celtic Mythology. Under the pseudonym Tremayne, he published many novels in the genre of horror or heroic fantasy, the plots of which are often based on stories gleaned by the writer from Celtic mythology. Worldwide fame was brought to him by a series of historical detectives, which take place in Ireland in the 7th century, and the main character is a nun, Sister Fidelma, who investigates crimes in accordance with the ancient Irish system of customs, together with her assistant brother Eadulf, a Saxon monk who grew up in Ireland. The fourteenth book in this series, Whispers of the Dead, has recently been published, already translated into nine European languages. The Sister Fidelma International Society was founded in the United States, with representatives from twelve countries around the world. Peru Tremayne owns more than eighty stories, "Dracula`s Chair" - the third in a row. “It was originally written as an epilogue for The Revenge of Dracula,” explains the author, “of the second volume of my Dracula trilogy, which includes the novels Dracula Unborn.

(also known as "Bloodright") and, Dracula, my love "(" Dracula, My Love "). I decided to remove it, considering it an artistic overkill, and it was first published in an anthology in the late 1970s.

" Peter Tremayne`s Dracula Trilogy has recently been reprinted in one volume by Signet. The possibility of its adaptation is being considered.  Vampires [Anthology] . *** Detective. Declaration of love : English writer and scientist in the field of celtology. Interest in the Celts and the choice of specialty is based on his origin (Irish, Welsh, Breton roots of the writer`s family). Tremaine is a renowned expert in the field of Celtic language and literature. Published a huge number of scientific papers. Awarded with awards. However, his interests are not limited to science. He embarked on his own literary career, writing a number of biographies of famous writers (including Ryder Haggard) and critical articles on contemporary authors. In 1977 his first book was published under the pseudonym Tremaine. Peter has written several horror and heroic fantasy novels. From 83 to 93, 8 adventure thrillers were published under the pseudonym Peter Macalan. Peter Tremaine is a prolific writer. To date, about 80 of his novels and more than 60 short stories have been published. He also writes history columns in several magazines and lectures in various countries. In 1993, the writer begins work on his most famous series about Sister Fidelma, the first stories were intended to introduce readers to the 7th century AD Brehon Law system in Ireland, and outlined the place of a woman lawyer in this system. The stories were such a success that the Headline publishing house signs a contract with the writer for 3 future novels at once. Books about Sister Fidelm are very popular with readers. Some critics have called Fidelma the heiress of brother Cadfael (the hero of the novels of Alice Peters). However, the author himself is against such a comparison, noting that the heroes lived at different times and were representatives of different cultural and legal systems. The only connection with Cadfael is the pseudonym of the writer. While publishing his review of the first novel by Alice Peters (real name Edith Pergeter), he realized that he could not sign it with his own name, risking confusing readers. This is how Peter Tremaine was born - a famous writer, scientist, a member of the Royal Society of Antiquities (Ireland) and the Royal Historical Society.  Wikipedia , Bibliography of Peter Berresford Ellis .
