After his death in 1946, Joe Swerling and Abe Burrows adapted Runyon`s stories and characters for the Broadway musical Little and the Dolls. The premiere took place in 1950 (a total of 1200 performances were performed). Five years later, the musical was filmed. It stars Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra.
