Kanatzhan Baizakovich Alibekov (in the USA known as Ken Alibek, Kazakh.

Kanatzhan Alibekov) is a microbiologist, specialist in infectious diseases and immunology, doctor of biological sciences. Kanatzhan Alibekov was born in 1950 in the Kazakh SSR in the city of Kauchuk. In 1975 he graduated from the military faculty of the Tomsk Medical Institute with a degree in infectious diseases and epidemiology. Since 1975, he worked at the NPO Biopreparat under the Council of Ministers of the USSR, engaged in the development and testing of biological weapons. Alibekov was awarded the degree of Doctor of Biological Sciences in the field of microbiology for research and development of bacteriological weapons based on tularemia and plague, as well as for the development of industrial technology for the production of bacteriological weapons based on anthrax. From 1988 to 1992 he held the position of First Deputy Head of NPO Biopreparat. In 1992 he emigrated to the USA and works in his main specialty. In 2010 he moved to Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. Currently, he heads the Department of Chemistry and Biology at the School of Science and Technology "Nazarbayev University", where, among other things, he is engaged in the development of anti-cancer drugs and drugs to prolong life, and is also the chairman of the board of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care. Retained US citizenship.
