It is winter 1943 and the once victorious armies of the Third Reich are on the retreat, burning, slaughtering and destroying everything in their path.

Under the command of Captain Josef Kleiser, an SS unit massacres the villagers of Prokev.

But seventeen-year-old Anatole Boniak survives, and taking refuge in the hills, he conceives a deep and brooding hatred for the SS Captain.

It is an obsession that will end in a violent confrontation and colour the Russian snows with the crimson stain of blood.

A book by Sean Hutson

Shaun Hutson (born 1958) is a British writer known for his horror novels and dark urban thrillers. He was born and raised in Hertfordshire, England and currently lives and works in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. After dropping out of school, he worked as a doorman in a cinema, bartender and salesman before becoming a professional writer. His work often shocks readers. For example, Sean Doyle, the antihero of several of his books, is an "anti-terrorist" with a penchant for brutal violence and a degree of disdain for authority. Doyle is often heavily armed using a Desert Eagle .50 caliber and automatic Beretta 93R submachine gun. Ramsey Campbell harshly criticized the novel Heathen in a parade style. To which Hutson always replies that Barker and Campbell are part of a clique of horror makers who give positive and brilliant reviews of each other`s books. And he adds that the only writer he respects is Stephen King ...

Quote: the only writer I respect - the rest are too much about what they do and pay too much attention to their work. Hutson`s work is especially popular in prison libraries. Sean Hutson is fond of cinema, rock music (played as a drummer and guitarist). He is also a football fan, a Liverpool fan for over 30 years. Bibliography: Slugs (1982) The Skull (1982) Spawn (1983) Erebus (1984) The Terminator (1984) Shadows (1985) Breeding Ground (1985) Relics (1986) Death Day (1987) Victims (1987) Assassin (1988) Nemesis (1989) Renegades (1991) Captives (1991) Heathen (1993) Deadhead (1993) White Ghost (1994) Lucy`s Child (1995) Stolen Angels (1996) Knife Edge (1997) Purity (1998) Warhol`s Prophecy (1999) Exit Wounds (2000) Compulsion (2001) Hybrid (2002) Hell to Pay (2003) Necessary Evil (2004) Twisted Souls ( 2005) Dying Words (2006) Unmarked Graves (2007) Body Count (2008)
