Archaeologist by education, worked in Southeast Asia, lived in Thailand and Japan. Now he lives in Alaska with his wife and three children, and is working on a dissertation in English literature. Together with Stephen Erickson he developed the world of the Malazan Empire, which formed the basis for the series of books by S.
