Mercedes entered this world on June 24, 1950, in Chicago, had a normal childhood and graduated from Purdue University in 1972.

During the late 70s she worked as a model for artists and then took up programming, ending up with American Airlines in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In addition to her fantasy works, she has written lyric works and recorded nearly fifty songs for Firebirds Arts & Music, a small record company specializing in science fiction music. & amp; quot; I am a storyteller; this is what I see as & amp; quot; my work & amp; quot ;. My stories come out of my characters; how my characters would react to this situation. Perhaps that`s why I get emails from readers of all ages - from 13 to 60. One of the reasons I write lyric songs is because I see them as a kind of & amp; quot; history pill & amp; quot; - they shorten the story to its very essence or enclose it in a capsule specific to a given time. I often write lyrics when I`m trying to get to the bottom of a critical scene; I find that when I have done this, the scene becomes absolutely clear to me, and I can write exactly what I wanted to say. Another reason is the genre of the novels I write: that is, fantasy in the medieval world. Music is very important to medieval peoples; bards are the main carriers of news. When I write & amp; quot; folk music & amp; quot; of these peoples, I enrich my world, whether I actually use the song in the lyrics or not. Source: fictionbook.ru/ru/author/lyeki_mersedes/ Wiki in English http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes_Lackey
