Where to work

The first tip is that you need to decide where your workplace will be located. If you already have a desk with everything you need to work, consider that half the job is done. Otherwise, you first need to choose the most intimate place in the apartment. Designers are advised to take a closer look at the insulated loggia or even a dressing room. There, neither you nor your household will interfere with each other. However, not everyone has such a privilege as the same glazed balcony with a warm floor, so a living room or bedroom should be considered as a dislocation for a home office. The kitchen is less suitable for these purposes than others (although there is a table and a chair there), since there is always someone in this part of the apartment and something is happening (there are irritating factors: food is being prepared, dishes are being washed, food brought from store, etc.).

Having chosen a room, you need to isolate yourself. Even if in the conditions of a one-room apartment and the presence of children, the designers recommend allocating a functional area where you will work, and not rest or solve household issues. For these purposes, large indoor plants (ficuses, palm trees) or decorative elements are suitable.

Choosing a table is just as important as choosing a chair. The working surface of the table should be large and spacious. The standard size for office desks is 1.2 x 0.6 x 0.75 meters. But it all depends on your activity at the computer, if you spend not a lot of time there or just check your mail, then the table size may be smaller. If you constantly work at a computer, if you still need to additionally work on it with papers or physical projects, then choose multifunctional models.

A quality monitor reduces the risk of eye disease and prevents fatigue. Choose as large monitors as possible with good color rendition. The resolution of the monitor should be at least FHD, this will give good image detail, and you will not need to strain your eyes to see the details. You can also equip a mini-office on a wide window sill by the window, in a wall recess, on a balcony, in a bedroom, in a living room, under the stairs (if you live in a private house) or between cupboards. The main thing is to take into account the specifics of your work so as not to miss the nuances that are important for comfortable and productive work.

Do not locate the work area in a walk-through area or in a draft. It is also uncomfortable to sit with your back to the door or to the rest of the room, and it is better to sit sideways or with your back to the window.

If too much light falls on your table and it heats up from the sun, hang pleated blinds, roman blinds or roller blinds. If the space for your home office is too small, use wall shelves to free up space on the desk.
